Take a lesson from life

If you can't deter the preditory bear and he attacks, fight! Kick, punch or hit the bear with whatever weapon is available. Concentrate your attack on the face, eyes and nose. Fight any bear that attacks you in your building or tent. He is a bully, just as the kid stealing milk money, and deserves what he gets.

I think there are more similarities in how humans and bears react than most researchers will admit. If you were in the city and run into a crank-a-dank grouch, who doesn’t want his picture taken, would you back off? I would.

I respect bears for what they are. Don’t want to change them. If they don't mind me photographing them, that is just fine. If my viewfinder is showing some stressed expressions, well, I will leave that dysfunctional drama to others. I like smiling bears.
